Truth
or Dare?
One
of my first introductions to Science of Mind was to attend an Easter
service in Los Angeles where Louise Hay was the guest speaker of
the day. Moving past the fun of the person beside her in the easter
bunny suit (holding a lit Jewish Minora), she calmy talked about
understanding that we attract and create all aspects of our lives.
A few years later, one of Louise's associates Dr Linda Logan became
my mentor (and now friend) which led me to a path of relying on
practice not theory.
So
this week, let's use Louise Hay's first book You Can Heal Your
Life for discussion. No need to buy a copy unless you wish to
(it's still in bookstores 20 years later). Let's discuss the power
of affirmations and how to put intent behind your affirmations to
produce results in your life. Look for practical results.
Far
too many people learn all the theory of New Thought and read all
the books ... BUT ... their lives reflect that they do not practice
it (i.e. activate it) in their lives. I'm more into doing than quoting.
Reading dozens of books on New Thought and quoting them or the Bible,
is not the end game. Quoting is for lazy people who keep the experience
as a "head" trip and not a "life" trip. No one
will have perfection - we all have challenges. It is how we handle
those challenges that tells you if you, not just understand, but
embody the principles of New Thought. The reality is It Works If
You Work It. The end game is your life.
One
of the great things about taking the steps to Change Your Life
by Changing Your Thinking is to not do it by yourself. Join
with other like minded people and be supported in your goals and
direction. You'll feel your energy soar and it will become an every
day part of your approach to life.
Dare
to go for it ... don't just talk about the Truth ... live it.
Monday's
study group:
If you'd like to attend our group regularly, occasionally, or just
once, please do. All opinions, questions, critiques and suggestions
are welcomed and respected - it's a round table discussion on New
Thought principles geared to your needs. There is no fee to attend
- everything is by donation. We meet at the RSL rooms on the lower
level of the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall (Gold Coast) Monday 6.30 to
8pm. For more info go to www.ScienceofMind.com.au
YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE by Louise Hay
(edited from Chapter 9)
Like any other new thing you are learning, it takes practice to make it part
of your life. First there is a lot of concentration, and some of us choose to
make this "hard work". I don't like to think of it as hard work, but
rather as something new to learn.
The process of learning is always the same no matter what the subject - whether
you're learning to drive a car, or type, or play tennis, or think in a positive
manner. First, we fumble and bumble as our subconscious mind learns by trial
and yet, every time we come back to our practising it gets easier, and we do
it a little better. Of course, you won't be "perfect" the first day.
You will be doing whatever you can do. That's good enough for a start.
Say to yourself often "I'm doing the best I can".
You must learn the Spiritual Laws and follow them to the letter. You cannot
bend them to the old way of thinking. You must learn and follow the new language,
and when you do, then "magic" will be demonstrated in your life.
By practicing as many of these methods as you can, you will begin to demonstrate
your results of this work. You will see the miracles occur in your life. The
things you are ready to eliminate will go of their own accord. The things and
events you want will pop up in your life seemingly out of the blue. You will
get bonuses you never imagined!
